Airtable is a collaborative tool where teams can add, edit, and delete entries in the same data sources, with updates happening in real-time.
Among Airtable's many features is the ability to create an interface. An interface provides unique visualizations for data that cater to specific purposes. Here's everything you need to know about Airtable interfaces.
What Is an Airtable Interface?

Airtable offers a variety of features that enable multiple users to collaborate on projects with different levels of permissions. However, not every user needs to be able to view or edit everything. In fact, too much information could lead to confusion. This is where an interface can come in handy.
Airtable interfaces are dynamic and customizable views of your data, designed to visualize necessary parts of your data. They serve as a bridge between the entire database and a user-friendly visualization of the necessary data. Interfaces are a great way to interact with the data. The ideal interface would serve particular decision-making roles, showing precisely what the collaborators need to see—nothing more, nothing less.
How to Build an Airtable Interface

To get started with Airtable interfaces, you would obviously have to begin by creating your Airtable base. Once you have the right configuration for your base, the next step is to determine the use cases for your interface.
Start by defining your target users, what information they need to view or edit, the best way to visualize the data, etc. This helps identify the specific Airtable fields you want to show, which tables to access, and even the permission levels for each collaborator.
When designing your Aritable interface, you can choose from various layouts. The available layouts are mostly the same as the Airtable view types, but you can also choose to start with a blank space.
Airtable's interface designer is intuitive. The tool takes you through all the steps of creating and editing your interface page. Here's how to build your Airtable interface:

You should now see your newly created interface! The page within the interface is on the right column. You can add additional interface pages with different visuals and configurations by clicking Add page.

Once everything is ready, click Publish to make the interface visible to collaborators. You can add more interfaces with different sets of pages and permissions to your Airtable base. To do so, click the + symbol next to the interface list in the right column.
How to Edit Airtable Interfaces
You can edit the elements in an interface even after publishing it. The editable elements are based on the layout and fields you chose while building the interface page. Here's how you can edit the elements in your Airtable interface:

Apart from these, you can also add more elements and view layouts to your page. Click Add Element in the left panel and then choose the type of element you would like to add. You can change the configuration in the right column based on the selected element.
Rearranging elements in your interface layout is also easy with simple drag-and-drop actions. To preview your work, use the Preview toggle or the View as dropdown to see what the published interface will look like.

Finally, after making all the desired edits, Click Done in the top right corner of the screen to save your changes. Collaborators can see your edits only after you click Done.
How to Share Airtable Interfaces

You can share Airtable interfaces in two ways: by adding collaborators' emails or by sharing an invite link. Airtable offers granular control over what collaborators can do, allowing you to set specific permissions based on the actions you want them to perform. To manage collaborators and their permissions, simply click Manage access.

When a collaborator accepts the invite to an interface (or clicks on the shared link), they can access it from their Airtable home page. They will be redirected to a signup page if they don't have an Airtable account.
To edit the Airtable interface, a collaborator must also be a member of the Airtable base. Non-collaborators, even if given access, can't edit the interface on the free plan; paid plans have no such limitation.
Share Your Airtable Interface With Email
If you have the email addresses of all collaborators you want to invite, you can send them an invitation via email. Click Share next to your profile picture in the interface, and then go to the Invite by email tab. You can add an invite message and select the access level here. Once everything is set up, click Invite to send the emails.

Share Your Airtable Interface With an Invite Link
If you don't have the email addresses of your collaborators, you can create a link with the appropriate permissions and share it with them.
Click Share in the interface and go to the Invite by link tab. Select Create new link and choose the permissions. You can also choose to allow only specific emails or share the entire base with the collaborators.
Once you're happy with everything, click Create link. Now, you can copy the link and share it with your peers on any other collaboration platform.
Make Data Management Easy With Airtable
Airtable interfaces are a game changer for data interaction. They combine the power of databases with the flexibility of design to efficiently present and edit data. Airtable's interface designer is intuitive and empowers you to craft tailored visualizations.
You can refine and edit your interfaces even after publication, ensuring they evolve with your data needs. Now that you know all you need about Airtable interfaces, unlock its potential and watch as it enhances how your team manages, analyzes, and leverages data.
