February 2024 · 4 minute read

EXCLUSIVE: Everyday there seems to be new rumors on how Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are planning on getting engaged, but if they did and a breakup happened, what’s the best way to avoid that?

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are clearly in their Honeymoon Phase. It’s been a whirlwind the past six months and there are signs the celebrity couple aren’t stopping yet. Travis flew down to Argentina to watch Taylor’s Eras Tour concert, and she made the long-haul trip to Las Vegas to see him win the Super Bowl. Who can forget the adorable kiss on the field when he and the Kansas City Chiefs were named champions? It’s etched into our brains. And that’s totally a good thing. As talk of Travis allegedly preparing to get Taylor Swift an engagement ring appears to get out of control, let’s look into the future. Say the tight end did propose before the 2024 ended, what could Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce do to avoid a breakup?

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce – Rumors full of proposal, breakup and moving in together

The rumor mill has been on overdrive since September, when Taylor was seen supporting the 34-year-old at Arrowhead Stadium.

There was speculation on when the pair began dating, and the Grammy-award-winning singer cleared it up in her Time Magazine interview in December. They had started talking after Trav put the music star on blast for not seeing him after one of her summer shows. Then, after dating for a number of weeks, they went ‘official’ after just a month of dating.

Cue Taylor Swift breaking the internet by watching a football game.

Ever since, there seems to be source who claims they’re growing closer. Not only that, but Taylor Swift even gave away tell-tale signs she was getting serious with Trav.

Whether it’s claims they ‘secretly engaged’ on New Year’s Eve and didn’t tell anyone, or that Travis could spend $1m on an engagement ring, it’s a lot to take in.

Then, when Trav bought his new mansion in Kansas City, people assumed Taylor had moved in with him permanently. Even though a dating guru told us Travis is ‘willing to give up anything’ for her, she has enough real estate to live wherever she wants.

Let’s roll back the tape and take it one step at a time.

Relationship expert’s advice to Traylor

Say Travis did want to buy the perfect ring for the Lover hitmaker, and propose before they reached their first anniversary, what would be in store for the duo?

Nicole Moore, relationship expert and love and relationship coach at Love Works, told us they need to have difficult conversations to make it work longterm.

She says: “I would advise Travis Kielce and Taylor Swift to about the unsexy topics before they get engaged. Both parties have size-able assets and potentially a lot to lose, so they’ll need to be on the same page for how to manage money together as a couple or keep their finances separate but come to an agreement on how they’ll approach money as a couple.”

Nicole also spoke about how their huge careers – both music and football – may become an issue if they decided to settle down to have children.

She continued: “When both parties in a relationship work full time and have thriving careers, it’s even more important to discuss child rearing and division of labor before getting engaged because there can still be a tendency to default to an expectation that the mother does the majority of the work.

“I would expect that someone like Taylor Swift, with a thriving career of her own and a more liberal leaning mindset would not want to find herself barefoot in the kitchen raising a ton of babies while Travis brings home the bacon.”

‘Don’t just get engaged over love’

Although it may seem like the only reason to pop the question, there’s a lot to consider when choosing to spend the rest of your life with someone.

Nicole knows that all too well (pardon the pun).

She explains, getting engaged for love, isn’t going to cut it in our modern world.

She adds: “For a marriage to work, love is sadly not enough, compatibility and actually liking who your partner really is matters too.

“I would advise any couple who are looking to get engaged early on into dating to have a conversation with their partner where they discuss the potential issues that might come up later on in marriage, such as finances, children and how you want to raise them if you desire children, housing, family dynamics and overall life vision.”

It comes after Travis Kelce teased he’s going to fly 9000 miles to watch Taylor perform in Australia. But considering the last time she had a romantic vacation there with an ex – cough, Tom Hiddleston – it ended in tears.

So maybe, don’t, Trav?
